Laura Nathan is a contemporary textile artist based in Manchester, England who works with archives, inherited objects, and symbolic materials. Being the granddaughter of Holocaust survivors has shaped who she is, and she focuses on how we uncover, process and share difficult histories. In 2023 Laura was awarded Arts Council England funding for her project “Engaging with Inherited Archives.” Through this, she developed technical, conceptual and research-based skills when working with archives within her textiles practice.

In 2024, Laura illustrated the childhood memories of Kindertransportee Hanna Zack Miley, and these pieces feature in a documentary based on Hanna’s life planned for release in 2025. Laura is currently an artist in residence at the Holocaust Centre North, England. Here she is exploring the centre’s archives and working alongside the survivor community and their families. This work will culminate in an exhibition in June 2025.
