Join KTA Spring 2026 intern Leni Schmeidel and Luca Kuhlman as they speak with KT2 Linda Waldroup. As young German women, Leni and Luca will share how researching the history of the Kindertransports and building personal connections with Kindertransport generations has profoundly shaped their lives and perspectives.

Luca Kuhlmann grew up in Dorsten, a town in the far north of the Ruhr region. After interviewing KTA member Kind Erika E. Estis, Luca wrote “Never before or since have I met a person who radiates so much wisdom and courage.” She was awarded the Margot Spielmann Prize by the Jewish Museum of Westphalia for her thesis. Leni Schmeidel is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Peace and Conflict Studies, as well as Gender Studies and feminist sciences at Philipps University in Marburg, Germany. Over the past year, she has become deeply engaged with the history and legacy of the Kindertransport through academic research and personal connection. KTA Speakers Bureau Chair Alan Peizer connected Leni with Kinder including Manny Lindenbaum, Josef Eisinger, and Margot Lobree. Leni writes “These conversations touched me deeply and have profoundly shaped my commitment to Holocaust education…The topic never really let me go. Instead, it influenced my choice of studies and strengthened my interest in Holocaust education, antisemitism research, and the political dimensions of memory. The insights I gained through the KTA left a lasting mark. They sparked in me a deep commitment to contribute to the

preservation of Kindertransport history, to help ensure that the stories of the Kinder remain accessible, visible, and meaningful for future generations.” Leni has created brilliant short videos for the KTA’s social media.
