SUMMARY:KTA Social Chat with Leni Schmeidel and Luca Kuhlman
DESCRIPTION:Join KTA Spring 2026 intern Leni Schmeidel and Luca Kuhlman as
they speak with KT2 Linda Waldroup. As young German women\, Leni and Luca
will share how researching the history of the Kindertransports and buildin
g personal connections with Kindertransport generations has profoundly sha
ped their lives and perspectives.\n\nLuca Kuhlmann grew up in Dorsten\, a
town in the far north of the Ruhr region. After interviewing KTA member Ki
nd Erika E. Estis\, Luca wrote "Never before or since have I met a person
who radiates so much wisdom and courage." She was awarded the Margot Spiel
mann Prize by the Jewish Museum of Westphalia for her thesis. Leni Schmeid
el is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Political Science\, Peace and Conf
lict Studies\, as well as Gender Studies and feminist sciences at Philipps
University in Marburg\, Germany. Over the past year\, she has become deep
ly engaged with the history and legacy of the Kindertransport through acad
emic research and personal connection. KTA Speakers Bureau Chair Alan Peiz
er connected Leni with Kinder including Manny Lindenbaum\, Josef Eisinger\
, and Margot Lobree. Leni writes “These conversations touched me deeply
and have profoundly shaped my commitment to Holocaust education…The topi
c never really let me go. Instead\, it influenced my choice of studies and
strengthened my interest in Holocaust education\, antisemitism research\,
and the political dimensions of memory. The insights I gained through the
KTA left a lasting mark. They sparked in me a deep commitment to contribu
te to the\n\npreservation of Kindertransport history\, to help ensure that
the stories of the Kinder remain accessible\, visible\, and meaningful fo
r future generations.” Leni has created brilliant short videos for the K
 TA’s social media.\n\nTo register\, join the KTA!
