In February 1939,U.S. Congress killed the Wagner-Rogers Bill to provide refuge to 20,000 endangered Jewish children.Laura Delano Houghteling, wife of U.S. Commissioner of Immigration & cousin of FDR, said “Twenty thousand charming children would all too soon grow up into twenty thousand ugly adults.”This prejudice and heartlessness has been similarly expressed about the unaccompanied children from Central America who have recently sought safety in the U.S. KTA VP Anita Weisbord will speak.
