KTA Open Mic Poetry and Prose reading on Holocaust and Kindertransport generation themes

The KTA hosts an interactive reading session. Stewart Florsheim will be a guest speaker. A poet, he will read from his Ghosts of the Holocaust: an anthology of Poetry by the Second Generation. Stewart was born in New York City, the son of a Holocaust survivor and a refugee from Hitler’s Germany. He has been widely published in magazines and anthologies and, and has won several awards and been awarded residencies from Artcroft and the Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts.. His new collection Amusing the Angels won the Blue Light Book Award in 2022.

Stewart has held readings throughout the Bay Area and in New York, Boston, London, and Jerusalem. He also teaches, writes non-fiction, and participates in KQED’s Perspective series. Stewart is on the board of directors of  Jewish Family and Community Services of the East Bay. He lives in the Bay Area with his wife.
