SUMMARY:My Knees Were Jumping\; Remembering the Kindertransports film scree
 ning in London
DESCRIPTION:Kindertransport survivors\, KT2s \, KT3s\, KT4s\, all generatio
ns are invited to join the Association of Jewish Refugees for a Kinder Lun
ch\, film screening\, and discussion with Director Melissa Hacker\, Execut
ive Director of the KTA.\n\nShort-listed for Academy Award nomination and
screened at film festivals throughout the world\, My Knees Were Jumping te
lls the story of the Kindertransports\, and of Melissa Hacker’s mother\,
a Kindertransport survivor who fled from Vienna and eventually settled in
the United States\, where she became an Academy Award nominated costume d
esigner\, working on films such Taxi Driver\, Annie Hall\, The Hustler\,
The Miracle Worker\, Tootsie\, and many more classic American movies. S
he is a strong presence of the film talking about her experiences alongsid
e other former child refugees\, many of them women. They remember the anti
semitism of schoolmates and neighbours\, the violence and their fears\, th
e difficult decision their parents had to make to send them off into the u
nknown\, and how they were received in England by foster families. Hacker
gives them plenty of space to talk and reflect on past events making this
film a moving and invaluable record of testimony.\n\nFor details\, reach o
