DESCRIPTION:The Kindertransports (German for “children’s transport”) 
 were a rescue mission that brought close to ten thousand Jewish children t
 o the United Kingdom in the nine months before the outbreak of World War I
 I. The children were placed with foster families\, in hostels\, schools an
 d farms. They were often the only members of their families to survive the
  Holocaust.\n\nKTA Board member Jacqueline Shelton will speak on her mothe
 r’s joyful childhood in Berlin\, the impact of coming of age as a Jewish
  adolescent in Nazi Germany\, her Kindertransport journey to England as a 
 17-year-old and her eventual emigration to the United States. Jacqueline i
 s honored to present this account in the days leading to the 87th annivers
 ary of Kristallnacht on November 9th\, the catalyst responsible for the Ki
 ndertransport rescue effort.\n\nJacqueline Shelton is a San Francisco nati
 ve who loves creating connections and building community. She is a consult
 ant with Belonging by Design. She serves on the board of the Kindertranspo
 rt Association (KTA)\, through which she completed a speaker training prog
 ram. Jackie has recently started sharing her mother’s ( of blessed memor
 y) Kindertransport story with local adult and student audiences and apprec
 iates learning from her audiences as much as she hopes they enjoy learning
